The activity of Guilin people volunteered to plant trees will last one month.

    Yesterday, there were more than 4000 cadres of the department and soldiers together to plant more than 2000 sapling in Yaoshan scene. The activity has lifted the curtain on the Arbor Day. According to the report of the foresty department, it says that this year the planting trees work is planting 7,000,000 trees in order to remendy the silva which has been hit by a strongly snowstorm calamity in 2008 year.

    March 12th is the day which is either the Arbor Day or the 28th Anniversary of the whole people volunteered to plant trees in this year. Recent year, Guilin government holds the activity that whole people volunteered to plant trees on March anniversary. With the whole people's hard working, the work that planting trees every and make the city green gets an outstanding achievement. Guilin city has been awarded some honor title about greening the city. To the end of 2008 year, there are more than 40% green plants cover the Guilin city. The afforest coverage rate has reached 37.22%.

    This year, the planting trees activity has been held in the middle of Feb. in advanced. Because it's warmy and rainy which good for sapling growing in this spring. The planting trees activity will last till to March 12th. At that time, the local government will organize and mobilize 2,900,000 person-time and plan to plant 7,000,000 trees. Panjia country in Yaoshan scene and Zizhou Ecological Park are the two important place to launch the planting trees activity in Guilin city.

    According to the introduction from the local forestry departmentalism, the forests in Yaoshan scene were hit seriously by rain and snow that the disaster area has reached more than 3,000 mu. In order to resume the forestry ecological circumstance, there will plant the Chinese sweet gum, the Cinnamonum campora(L.)Pres, and the Elaeocarpus apiculatus Mast,and so on. Because they can grow densely, hold water and soil, which are the best trees to resume the forestry ecological circumstance.The development of the Zizhou Ecological Park is one of the ten local government work for citizen. Building the planting trees place with people volunteered to plant in Zizhou, it is useful for organize and mobilize all society to join in developing Guilin city.
